Our client, a hobbyist woodworker operating from a suburban garage workshop, was experiencing ongoing dust accumulation issues. A self-designed PVC ducting system had been installed; however, it was resulting in significant dust build-up within the ductwork and inefficient extraction performance. The client engaged Westair Filtration to provide expert guidance on improving dust control and overall system efficiency.
Scope of Work
Westair Filtration was engaged to design and supply an optimised ductwork system that would:
- Maximise extraction efficiency at each machine
- Improve overall airflow performance
- Remove flexible hoses from the floor to enhance safety and workspace usability
Solution
The project presented several challenges, including limited floor space and overhead restrictions within the garage environment.
Westair Filtration delivered a tailored, high-performance ducting solution designed to work within these constraints. The new system significantly improved airflow and dust capture efficiency, resulting in a noticeable increase in the volume of dust successfully returned to the dust collector.
Additionally, the redesign eliminated unnecessary floor clutter, creating a safer, more functional workspace for the client.
The upgraded system incorporated a custom design by Westair Filtration, utilising Nordfab Quick-Fit ducting to ensure efficient installation, flexibility, and long-term performance.
