Beyond the health risks, oil mist is conductive and corrosive. If allowed to enter the electrical cabinets of a CNC machine, it can cause short circuits in sensitive PCBs and controllers, leading to extremely expensive repairs and unplanned downtime.

Oil mist consists of liquid droplets suspended in the air (usually from cooling), while oil smoke is created when heat causes the fluid to burn or evaporate. Smoke particles are much smaller and require higher-efficiency HEPA filtration, which we integrate into our system designs.

Yes. Our high-efficiency separators, such as the Nederman FibreDrain® range, are designed to coalesce the mist back into liquid form. This captured fluid can often be drained back into the machine’s sump, reducing your overall coolant costs.

The choice of filter depends on whether you are using synthetic, semi-synthetic, or straight oil. We assess your specific fluid’s viscosity and the “mist load” of your machinery to specify a filter media that won’t clog or degrade prematurely.
