WESTAIR FILTRATION

Heavy-Duty Extraction for the Foundry & Smelting Industry

Foundry processes demand extraction systems that can withstand extreme heat, abrasive dust, and corrosive gases. From melting and pouring to sand handling and finishing, failing to manage these emissions puts your workforce at risk and invites costly regulatory penalties.

West Air Filtration provides engineered solutions designed for the rigours of the smelting industry. We specialise in custom-built hooding, heat-resistant canopies, and high-velocity ducting systems that capture toxic fumes at the source. Whether you require standard Nordfab® QF ducting or heavy-gauge abrasive-resistant materials, we design the entire flow to ensure your foundry remains clean, efficient, and fully compliant with Australian emission standards.

Engineered for Extreme Conditions

A foundry extraction system is only as strong as its weakest link. That’s why we focus on “purpose-built” engineering. By calculating the exact thermal loft of your furnace or pouring station, we design canopies that catch fumes before they dissipate into the roof space. This precision engineering reduces the load on your fans, lowering energy consumption while keeping the workshop air breathable for your team

Frequently asked Questions

Comprehensive solutions designed to protect, grow, and manage your wealth at every stage of life. We combine strategic insight with personalized planning to help you make decisions.

We utilise specialised high-heat alloys and temperature-resistant ducting materials. Where necessary, our designs include cooling sections or fresh-air bleed-in valves to reduce gas temperatures before they reach the filter media, preventing equipment damage.

Yes. For sand handling and fettling areas, we specify heavy-gauge, wear-resistant ducting and long-radius bends. This reduces “wear-through” caused by high-velocity abrasive particles, significantly extending the lifespan of your system.

We integrate advanced chemical filtration and scrubbing technologies designed to neutralise acidic gases and capture fine heavy-metal particulates. Our goal is to ensure your stack emissions stay well below the strict limits set by Australian environmental regulations

In a foundry, “capture at source” is difficult due to crane movements and heat. Our custom-designed hoods are engineered to work around your specific workflow, providing maximum suction without obstructing the pouring or moulding process.

Absolutely. We understand that foundry equipment takes a beating. We offer local WA support for spare parts, filter replacements, and system audits to ensure your extraction continues to perform at peak efficiency under heavy workloads.

The duration of counselling can vary from one session to several years, depending on circumstances. This subject would be discussed at the first meeting and generally, three to six sessions are allowed for and then this is reviewed.
